Hate the Blackberry Playbook, Six reasons

"Typepad bloggers who use the BlackBerry Curve or the Pearl will have no more reason not to update their blogs a little more."
Today, technology is becoming more like football. No need logical reasons to be wielding a computer or another and can be perfectly impermeable to the specific data if we mark on the heart.

In the previous post I gave six reasons why we believe that the Blackberry Playbook is a great device. However, our job is to try to be as infatuated and objective as possible. So we spent five days of the Blackberry World would seek out tickles the RIM device to reveal their weaknesses.

One thing we already overtaking is that the positive aspects of the Playbook win in the global balance, if only because they are hardware benefits, while the negatives are mostly software and usability, which is more easily solved with a few lashes to the developers. Some, however, these shortcomings are certainly inexcusable and abhorrent, but so are the views. We do not curl. These are the six reasons to hate the Blackberry Playbook.

1 .- blooded Blackberry
It will be strange, but what for some is an absolute advantage, for others it is a curse. Reasons are not lacking in any faction. Bridge Blackberry platform connection between the Blackberry and Bluetooth Playbook set on, which in principle means less energy consumption but also less bandwidth on tethering.
Worst of all is that Blackberry Bridge is a method of displaying only a handful of aplicacions that are not installed on the tablet. RIM did not include, for example, email client or program notes themselves. At the time when you disconnect the Blackberry away. That is fine when used as a business tool but it is absurd in a device for domestic retail.
To top it off, Bridge is not compatible with other operating systems that will have to pull normal tethering. Good policy for Blackberry fans, bad politics for fans of anything else.

2.-interface very close and without Widgets
Maybe it’s that we are more accustomed to running Android, but the interface seems to us quite QNX ended when offering alternatives to use its default settings. There seems to be any option to change the boot tab, change something about the aesthetics (beyond the screen) or to introduce widgets. We will have to wait for the ecosystem to develop more opportunities to see what we find.

3.-Battery
This aspect has disappointed us a bit, especially coming from a brand like RIM has always taken great care to the autonomy of their devices. Turned up the playbook to stop loading at 9 am, and at 17 pm, the battery was running low after using the Tablet intensively (WiFi and Bluetooth enabled) but discontinuous (especially navigation and communications. No video.) The Playbook gives, just past, Justito for a day of work. The iPad is not far from the mark but it had enough.

4.-Design
The Playbook is quite Soviet in which physical design is concerned. It is not particularly small (The Galaxy Tab Samsung beats the low-dimensional) or particularly thin or light. Its minimalist design is everything that a tablet can be. During the Blackberry World Playbook we could see on the shelf in a store among other models of tablet and not stressed at all. Given the number of users who buy exclusively what they go through the eyes, the aesthetics of the Playbook will not help.

5.-Ergonomics and controls
This is the problem of design. With a completely rectangular, the Playbook is not particularly comfortable to hold though, at least, is based on a table without rocking. The rubber cover on the back is very successful, because it allows not left traces and not slip. Of course, the power button is one of those parts you just hating with all your soul. It’s tiny, hard-witted and is at an uncomfortable housing. Not be a problem if used enough, but in the end you have to touch it very often to awaken the Tablet when it comes to rest.
Another thing that is sorely missing is, strangely, some sort of physical control. There are times when a web link becomes inaccessible by size, and must place the cursor at a particular point of a text to correct something. In those moments you miss the fantastic optical trackpad Blackberry to expedite the process.
6.-Applications
Right out of the box, the Playbook is a wasteland. There is no native email client and Gmail icons Twitter or iniquitous take us to the web versions of the applications, which already sounds a little recochineo. The virtual platform for Android applications will be great when you start to run but, today, the first sensation on entering the World App Store application is forfeited to discover that there is nothing you need, or Twitter client, or Evernote, and Dropbox, or Instagram or Vignette, or Spotify, Foursquare and … nothing. Only very visual applications but of doubtful utility. Lords of RIM, the Playbook and software needed in abundance. You will not need to remind you that we are in a war platform, not device.
